Residential Properties
Industrial/Commercial/Institutional Wastewater Customers
If you own or work in any of the following types of businesses you should read the Sewer Use By-Law and make sure your waste disposal methods comply with the by-law:
Customers who do not comply with the by-law are liable for a fine of between $5,000 and $10,000 per day for a first offence. Corporations are liable for a fine of up to $50,000 per day for a first offence.

Waste Survey Reports
If you are an industrial, commercial and/or institutional (ICI) user of water/wastewater systems and a By-Law Compliance Officer requests a report of your practices, you must complete and deliver a Waste Survey Report (PDF, 551 KB) to the City within 30 days.
Information that must be included in the report includes:
- a description of operations
- wastewater characteristics
- disposal practices
- spill prevention plans
- schematic process diagrams related to wastewater treatment prior to disposal in the municipal sanitary sewer system.
